Blue Badge Guides are the only tourist guides accredited by South West Tourism, the government's official body for the promotion of tourism.
To gain the coveted Blue Badge, the symbol of professional guiding, potential guides must undergo a thorough and extensive training programme after which they must pass both written and practical examinations. Blue Badge Guides are experienced at meeting and greeting visitors with a friendly face and conducting excursions by coach or on guided walks.
The Guild is the professional association for all Blue Badge Guides and takes an active role in the standards, training and professional development of it's members.
The Guild is not a commercial organisation and does not involve itself directly in the engagement of guides which is left to the guides themselves who are self-employed, or through their organisations and agencies. Details of these can be found on the organisations and agencies page.
